Choice Novels
Part of your summative assessment for Unit 9 will involve a presentation on a novel of your choice. Utilizing research skills you acquired during Unit 8, investigate each of the following titles and authors to discover which novel appeals most to your reading style and interests. The options include a mixture of classic and modern literature, fiction and nonfiction, foreign and local settings and authors; please carefully select the novel which promises to be most engaging for you.
You will be responsible for bringing a copy of this novel with you to class throughout Unit 9. I have some copies of the novels in our class library, and you may also search our school and public library for copies available at no charge. If you are interested in purchasing an electronic copy of the text to read on your iPad, please see me for assistance as necessary, or you may visit a local bookstore.

Small Group Research Blitz
Working collaboratively, utilize research skills attained during Unit 8 to discover more about your group's author and novel. In preparation for Unit 9, prepare a digital presentation which introduces your novel and author to the class. No spoilers, please. Offer a brief background of the author's life, including information on the genre of writing under which the book is classified, and notes on the time period. Be sure to cite your sources in proper MLA format. The purpose of your presentation (similar to that of a movie trailer) is to raise interest in the author's work, assisting classmates with choosing the novel they would like to read for this unit.
